Friends In Deed

Food, Moms Support

Details

Friends In Deed, an interfaith collaborative, is dedicated to meeting the many needs of the most vulnerable residents of greater Pasadena—homeless and at-risk individuals including women and children.

History: All of our programs are designed to meet our clients where they are at and provide them with the resources and compassionate facilitation to transform their own lives. It is important that the people that utilize our services feel like they are part of the Friends In Deed family.  Some of the people that receive food from the Food Pantry are currently volunteers.  With some of our other programs, like The Women’s Room and The Bad Weather Shelter, many of our past clients have returned to volunteer in one capacity or another.  Our doors are open and we hope that everyone who walks through feels welcomed and important.

We run three of our innovative, trans-formative support programs from our Friends In Deed House (444 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena on the SE corner of Washington & Los Robles) year round.  These are The Food Pantry, The Women’s Room, and Homeless Prevention.  The Bad Weather Shelter has, historically, been run from Pasadena Covenant Church (539 N. Lake Avenue, Pasadena) from Thanksgiving until mid-March.  And Norma’s Nook is housed in First United Methodist Church of Pasadena (500 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena).

Single WOMEN who are homeless can be connected to services and housing through the Coordinated Entry System (CES) at Friends In Deed.

The Coordinated Entry System (CES) streamlines the process of finding housing for those who are homeless by connecting them with all of the housing providers through a single assessment on application. Individuals who complete an assessment are connected with short-term emergency shelter (when needed) and matched with permanent housing, prioritizing those who are most vulnerable first.

Services offered:

  • The Food Pantry
  • The Women’s Room
  • The Bad Weather Shelter
  • Norma’s Nook
  • Homeless Prevention
  • Other Programs
